Librarian and Cool Artwork!

Librarian!

Been waiting a while to build this guy. Could never find a vision or an idea I liked. I ended up buying a bunch of bits of from Rik, several of which gave me an idea!

 I used a nice Dark Elf two handed sword here. I liked the cruelness of it and it suits the rest of the weapons in my forces (often curved scimitars etc) It's also a bit arcane and unusual, perfect for a nasty librarian/sorcereor. I also used a champion backpack from the chaos marines. Again because it looks arcane and wizard-y. I added the open book from the Sevrin Loth kit.

The ghoul ghost coming out of his hands is an unknown bit. I think it's from an empire wizard or something. Was originally a hand with a potion and this weird ghoul spirit coming out of it. I like it! Looks like my librarian is summoning some sort of dark force or spectre of death.

Sternguard!

Hi all,

I always wanted a plain sternguard squad. By that I mean just their special bolters. No combi's, no heavies and no specials. Just a basic squad. Regular Sternguard are now cheaper than before and their special issue ammo is just so versatile.

I wanted to make these guys stand out so I every member is clad in Mk8 Errant armour. Each one has his own custom bolter and little bits to make him unique. Scopes, drum mags, forward grips, elongated barrells etc. I also included some bionics to represent their veterancy and many battles. I wanted to portray a unit that is unified but individual at the same time.

PS: God why did I choose black as my main colour? I find it so tedious to make it look nice. You have to highlight so precisely and get the colours just right. 9 out of 10 times I run out of patience and just do a bodge-job.Keep in mind that the flash REALLY picks out the highlights and makes them look even shittier. They aren't quite as shitty in real-life.

I try and model at least one guy per squad with a grenade hand so I remember to throw one. Hasn't worked so far!
